Latitudes and Attitudes has always been sort of a renegade print
magazine, dedicated to sailors who cruise and live-aboard, but has become
much more. It has always been offbeat and whimsical, thus not really
considered a serious sailing periodical. Furthermore,
it was also virtually impossible to find subscriptions discounted by
any mag vendor. Things have changed... I feel very compelled to compliment
this magazine. It has constantly improved itself, and has stayed true
to its mission to serve and reflect regular folks who sail.
The online version, as well as the parent web site Seafaring.com,
is nothing short of amazing. The entire (current issue)
magazine is readable online through a very clever interface. There are
videos and audios throughout. For example, an online boat review with
a full video tour, in, out , and sailing, is hard to compare to a plain,
printed article. Each issue is also downloadable as a full color pdf
file. Back issues are also archived. On the site, there is also "Latitudes
and Attitudes TV," a full archive of their television shows,
as well as podcasts, "Seafarin'
Radio for cruising music, how-to-videos,
and more.
